Samuel’s early exposure to agricultural entrepreneurship by his paternal and maternal grandfathers instilled in him a passion for farming. Despite facing adversities such as hostility, bullying, betrayal, and discrimination due to his achievements, Samuel remained resilient. However, his resolve was severely tested when, at age thirteen, he intervened to protect his mother from physical harm, leading to estrangement from his polygamous father. This experience, coupled with a desire to avoid perpetuating unhealthy family dynamics, led Samuel to forgo pursuing married relationships.
Upon experiencing a spiritual awakening, Samuel sought to understand God’s purpose for marriage, believing it to be intricately linked to one’s life assignment. Through divine revelation, he learned that marriage is ordained by God to fulfill a specific assignment, as depicted in Genesis 2:21-22, 27: “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God, He created him; male and female He created them.” This understanding reshaped Samuel’s apprehensions about marriage, affirming that it is a divine institution designed to unite individuals in fulfilling their God-given purposes.
Guided by biblical principles such as Ecclesiastes 3:1, Proverbs 18:22, Romans 8:14, Psalm 68:6, and Mark 10:9, Samuel embarked on a journey of discerning God’s will for his marital union. Despite initial doubts stemming from his ancestral lineage of polygamous marriages, Samuel received assurance that God would lead him to the one with his part of the blessing for the assignment. His encounter with Jedidah, who had similarly vowed to live a single life devoted to God, affirmed God’s plan for their union.
Their courtship, marked by divine guidance and unwavering faith, culminated in marriage on September 6, 1980. Despite opposition from Samuel’s father, they remained steadfast in their conviction of God’s plan for their lives. Today, Samuel testifies to the truth of Proverbs 18:22, affirming that finding a wife is indeed a blessing from the Lord.
Motivated by his personal journey, Samuel penned “The One with Your Assignment” to impart wisdom and assurance to readers. Rooted in biblical truth, the book underscores marriage as a sacred covenant ordained by God, intended for the fulfillment of divine assignments. Through their union, Samuel and Jedidah exemplify the transformative power of God’s love and the fulfillment found in aligning one’s life with His purpose.
